Erfahrungsberichte
Tom Curry, 09.März 2008 - 06.April 2008 All the other volunteers were really friendly and the places we were working were just breathtaking. It was so nice knowing you're doing something worthwhile whiklst being able to have fun at the same time! I loved every minute of it!
Matthias Bartsch, 18.Juli 2009 - 14.August 2009
Luke Harvey, South Island, 9.April – 20.Mai 2011 What did you enjoy most? I have enjoyed the whole experience. Being able to trek through deep bush in the ranges where few people have gone was great. We had to scramble and climb up steep hills and hike down hills, great fun! The team leaders are great people as well with some interesting stories and with small groups it has been easy getting to know the other volunteers.
Which individual project or activity did you enjoy the most? Tree planting in Punakaiki has been one of my favourite activities. We planted 300 plants in a week and a bit and it was great to know that in 20 years time they will be part of the NZ forest, part of the Native environment. Also the fact that the project is right next to the pancake rocks and blows holes that I have seen 4 times and not yet bored of.
What would you say to someone thinking about joining New Zealand Conservation Volunteers?Do it! It's a fulfilling and worthwhile experience. You get to see and experience the real NZ that most tourists miss out on as well as getting some great friends.
Is there anything else you'd like to comment on about being a volunteer?I am proud of being a part of Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and have had some great experiences. Not everyone gets to work on tracking Kiwis and seeing them in the wild. Volunteering is the way to see New Zealand.
