Elliot Burton - January 2011
I had the most amazing time and can't thank the ranch enough! The week was unreal! Thanks for putting up with the lot of us! twas a giggle!
The Course gave me a chance to do something that not alot of people don't get to do, and the things I learned gave me a invaluable insight into my working months to come.
The accommodation was great! (right now im sleeping in a bed filled with bugs, so the training ranch's dorms were a 5 star hotel! haha).
Favorite memory... err not to sure probably the horses... and the bike... quads... people.... it it was all fantastic!
Good luck with every thing at the ranch, I wish you newbies all the best! Craig...stay coool! haha

I had a 'Fab' week, thank you so much, very enjoyable and totally different, the highlight for me was rounding up those cattle and sheep on horseback-' unreal', even though we lost 2! I would really like to come back and help out with the mustering if there is any possible chance, could be anywhere in Australia all I need is a bed and some food plz! Let me know.
I hope the following group were good - I'm sure we were a hard act to follow. I wish the ranch great success, all the best and thanks again, I cannot believe you get any real work done at the ranch with all these amateurs around.

I had an absolute ball on the OutBack course. I was completely comfortable in the accomodations, the food was just enough and very good, and of course the staff made everything a bit more fun! I loved that each day there was something new and challenging to learn and regardless of what I thought, there was always a surprise. The program is a great overview for life on a working ranch and I am thankful to have taken the course. It took me completely out of my comfort zone, tested my mental and physical strength, and taught me so much about what I am capable of. No matter how many times I swore I'd never do something, this course found a way of forcing me to face a fear or a challenge right in the face and I loved it.
I have so many memories from the week on the ranch from learning how to ride a motor bike and driving it through a creek, to slapping cattle on their butt and running them down the race, driving a tractor for their first time, riding the horses through the fields as we mustered the cattle, or simply enjoying a cold beer after a long day of work. Out of all of the great times my favorite memory would have to be conquering my fears when it came to the cattle. I was always so anti anything when it came to cattle, but once we were put into the situation and encouraged to perform certain tasks with the cows, I just knew that this was my time to do it. When I was the first person that Craig asked "So do you want to stick your fingers in the cows nose and check its teeth?" I thought, no way, he is absolutely messing with me! Then he did it and then other people did and I thought to myself...stop being a weenie and do it! So I did, twice. When you do something that you thought you would or could never do, you gain a confidence, and that sure happened to me.
I'm pretty sure I've rambled enough for you, but I just can't say enough how much I enjoyed the week in Coonabarabran! Thanks for all you do and good luck with all of the groups that come through in the future. I know that they will love it just as much as I did, and if they don't, then that is their own fault :)
